I had a crazy week and meant to post more about the sale. Oh well. I'll post a good recap early next week. Here is a little interview with me if you're curious.
A lot of designs get stuck in my head with certain colors and I find it hard to branch out from my original inclination. I've always seen my pebble design in yellow and grey. This weekend I printed pebble napkins using grey and cream inks on a natural grey-ish beige linen. As soon as I saw it I felt like it was the perfect fit.
If you're curious, here are some other variations that I've done in the past.
This weekend I had a chance to try out a new design. I've been feeling a little short on time since the sale is quickly approaching but I'm glad I was able to squeeze in experimenting with at least one new idea. Above are two napkins that I printed using a metallic gold ink. I am really pleased with how they turned out.
I also printed my new design in a dark brown. The photo directly below is a napkin. Below that is a piece of chartreuse fabric that will soon be turned into an apron. The last photo shows the three napkin versions I made.
I snapped some quick photos of a recent batch of aprons that I whipped up. I am in full production mode right now trying to get ready for the Sunday Best Sale. I'll be posting more photos of my progress next week.

I've been cutting so much fabric over the last two days. It's hard to believe that I am going to print and sew all of it.
I had the chance to catch up with some of my favorite people while I was in Minneapolis.
I have a habit of falling hard for certain colors or color schemes. It's like I become internally programmed and I never seem to realize whats happening until it is ridiculously obvious. When I worked designing wedding invitations for a living I made a habit of unintentionally wearing the color combo of the design on the day it was being printed. A co-worker pointed it out to me.
Anyway, I just unpacked a bunch of linen that I received in the mail. I piled the fabric on a chair in the living room. Then I stepped back and noticed how closely the linen colors matched the wall hanging right above (a rug from anthropologie that I put on the wall so the pets wouldn't destroy it). I guess this is my current palette.

I got my new brown boots just in time to take them along with me on my trip to Minneapolis. I'll be spending the rest of the week catching up with friends and family. See you next week!
Like so many others I've been drooling over the j.crew catalogs for the last year or so. The clothes are quite lovely and the locations have been just amazing. My most recent catalog appears to have been shot somewhere around Chamonix, France. Jesse and I traveled there a few years ago (I think it was 2001). I was inspired to dust off the old photo album to see some of our pictures from that trip. You may be surprised, but unlike the j.crew models I did not wear a fabulous pair of heels on Mount Blanc.
