With toddler-hood right around the corner, I decided that it might be wise to read up on some parenting books. I'm not really looking for a bunch of "do's and don'ts" but I think having a little insight into what my approach is ahead of time seems like a good idea.
I just started reading this book, Simplicity Parenting, which I was attracted to since it kind of lines up with how I operate. It focuses on the importance of your home environment, daily rhythms, breaks of calm and limiting media. Right now I'm reading about keeping clutter out of your home, a favorite topic of mine!
Thinking about all of this reminded me of this article (found here), that I read while I was pregnant, about a couple with a baby that live in a very small space. The quote "All you really need is diapers, a place to change him and boobs" completely stuck with me as we were deciding how to prepare for our small person. We've been thoughtful but also flexible about what we bring into our home and so far that's been working for us.
